You’ve probably already heard it, but it bears repeating, travel to Europe this summer is the cheapest it’s been in a decade. Airfare alone from the US between now and September is down between 20 and 35% over a year ago. Partially driven be the expansion of low cost carriers and partially driven by a drop in demand.
Rental prices in places like Ibiza, Mykonos and Tuscany are 10-20% cheaper than last summer and numerous hotels especially in places like Paris which saw a drop in demand
While tourism to places like France and Belgium are down to flat, there’s a strong upswing in travel to Germany, Ireland, Portugal and Norway which is increasing tour options. Lisbon and Berlin in particular are excellent budget destinations for lodging.
